Abstract

With the advent of chromatographic separation methods for drug assay, and of notably specific and sensitive detection methods such as RIA, the development of new extraction procedures for determining drugs and metabolites in biological fluids has been relatively neglected. Yet there have been advances in extraction procedures, and this article summarizes the options available and gives examples of their use. Deproteinization, solvent extraction and the use of resins are considered.*
