Abstract
I need hardly convince you that water is central to biology in controlling and modifying the reaction of life. The importance of water in exerting a controlling, or modifying influence on protein function was really only recognized some ten years ago. The whole problem of solvation only appeared in enzyme studies in 1970 and we have not advanced very far since then.
