Techniques for Chromosome Analysis

  • Chapter
Techniques in Somatic Cell Genetics

Abstract

Chromosome identification methods are widely used in somatic cell genetic studies, e.g., for ascertaining the normal karyotype and changes associated with transformation and neoplasia, identification of parental contribution of chromosomes in somatic cell hybrids and for gene mapping, and for verifying the cross-contamination of cell lines.
