Abstract
In recent years, much effort has been directed toward measuring the mobility of proteins in membranes. These measurements have received considerable impetus from the growing awareness that the movements of membrane proteins are likely to have functional significance. In addition, diffusion of an individual protein is sensitive to interactions with other membrane components. Thus, mobility measurements provide a powerful method for directly elucidating structural interactions.
