The Adsorption of Unsaturated Hydrocarbons on Aluminium Oxide and Magnesium Oxide : An Inelastic Electron Tunnelling Spectroscopy Study

  • Chapter

Abstract

The tunnel spectra of three unsaturated hydrocarbons (1-heptyne, 3-hexyne and cyclohexene) adsorbed on aluminium oxide and on magnesium oxide are compared. Intensity variations and frequency shifts of the vibrational modes are interpreted in terms of the likely chemisorptive reactions and the molecular orientations on the surfaces.
