Infrared Spectra of Species Adsorbed on Films or Well-Defined Surfaces : A Tabulation of the Investigated Systems

  • Chapter

Abstract

Valuable information on the structure and bonding types of adsorbates on a solid substrate can be obtained from infrared spectra of the chemical system so generated. The application of infrared methods to supported metal catalysts and to pressed powdered oxides and halides will not be considered here. Studies on corrosion inhibitors and organic thin films on metals are also out of the scope of this paper, as well as reports on laser-stimulated surface reactions.

Work performed under the auspices of the I.R.I.S. program supported by the Belgian Ministry for Science Policy.
