The Continuum Model: Application to G1-Arrest and G(0)

  • Chapter
Cell Growth

Part of the book series: NATO Advanced Study Institutes Series ((NSSA,volume 38))

Abstract

The G1 period, the period between mitosis and the start of DNA synthesis, is generally believed to contain the crucial events which are involved in the regulation of cell growth. A number of papers have appeared supporting the idea that there are functions occurring in, and specific for, the G1 period which are required for the regulation of the initiation of DNA synthesis (1–11).
