Abstract
The interaction of man with the environment is based upon the receipt of sensory stimuli from the outside world, analysis of the information contained in these stimuli (including comparison with past events laid down in memory) and appropriate (or sometimes inapproriate) action. The response of the brain to stimuli and some aspects of the processing of information can be studied by measuring the electrical activity of the brain evoked by sensory stimuli. Since this activity can be recorded using elctrodes on the scalp this method provides a non-invasive method of investigation.
