Abstract
A recently developed sintered alpha silicon carbide is a candidate material for advanced turbine engine components. Several applications in diesel engines and gasoline engines have been tested with encouraging results. Principal successes are valve lifter, pre-combustion chambers, and turbocharger rotors.
