Abstract
Much attention has recently been focused on CO2 fixation, and especially on ribulose bisphosphate (RuBP) carboxylase/oxygenase which may represent a rate-limiting step in crop productivity (see Siegelman and Hind, dy1978, for recent symposium). For example, symbiotic N2 fixation is probably often limited by the availability of energy in the form of photosynthate supplied by the host plant (Hardy and Havelka, 1975).
