Abstract
There is no substantial body of literature describing dermatologic conditions with neuropsychiatric manifestations that could lead to misdiagnosis. Much has been written, however, about psychosomatic skin disorders in which authors espouse emotional etiologies for these conditions. It is important that physicians maintain a balanced perspective when dealing with disorders that have no readily apparent etiology, especially if they occur in emotionally unstable patients.
