Abstract

The metabolites of polyunsaturated fatty acids constitute a large and steadily growing family of compounds, with the classical prostaglandins as the first identified members, and the thromboxanes, prostacyclins and leukotrienes as more recently discovered products. Most kinds of studies in this increasingly complicated area involve detection and often also quantitation of these compounds, which generally occur in extremely small amounts. Thus, sensitive and specific assay methods are needed.
