Real-Time Shading Corrector for a Television Camera Using a Microprocessor

  • Chapter

Abstract

Digital image processing by computer has become practical in various fields. Video systems are particularly useful because of their high cost-effectiveness due to mass production. However, as they are basically analog devices, some attention is required when using them in digital systems. The television camera is compari-tively compact and is a useful image input device for the practical image processing systems. However, there are problems with regard to data accuracy; as pointed out in Sawchuk (1977), for example, the shading phenomenon presents us with one of the most crucial problems.
