Abstract

Following isolation, purification (Schally et al., 1971; Amoss et al., 1971), and elucidation of the chemical structure of luteinizing-hormone-releasing hormone (LH-RH) (Matsuo et al., 1971a; Burgus et al., 1971) and its synthesis (Matsuo et al., 1971b; Monahan et al., 1971), many investigators (see White et al., 1973; Immer et al., 1974) synthesized a number of analogues that are more potent than LH-RH in releasing LH and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and inducing ovulation in animals and humans (Fugino et al., 1974; Schally et al., 1976; Keye et al., 1976).
