Abstract
These diseases are probably the cause of the major amount of epigastric distress experienced by humans. The reason the word “probably” must be stressed is that academicians still remain confused concerning the significance of abnormalities observed on both endoscopic and histologic evaluation of gastric mucosa in patients suffering from the symptoms. The clinician attempting to treat these diseases should understand some of the pathophysiology.
