Abstract
In general two aspects of dependence towards alcohol + can be distinguished (4), (5), (7), (8), (13), (23):
-
on the one hand physical or physiological dependence as characterized by the appearance of a spectrum of symptoms arising upon cessation of alcoholization and comprising hyperexcitability, tremor and convulsions
-
on the other hand psychological or behavioral dependence, a somewhat ambiguous term which most often designates the search behavior of individuals for alcohol in order to avoid the withdrawal syndrom.
