Abstract
Echoencephalography has been used primarily to detect shifts from midline structures and to measure ventricular size in the brain. While performing these procedures, many investigators have observed pulsatile echoes originating from the major intracranial arteries. In many instances, these intracranial arterial echoes are not easily isolated from echoes originating from surrounding tissue. This problem of arterial echo isolation has limited diagnostic information obtained from such echoes.
