Abstract
As the order parameter of a superconductor is bilinear in electron field operators its response function is a four-point function of the field operators. Developments in recent years involving electron tunneling have led to the experimental determination of the imaginary part of the space and time Fourier transform of the response function of superconductors despite the order parameter being off-diagonal in the number representation and not having a classical laboratory conjugate field which couples to it.1,2,3
