Abstract
The true small computer dedicated to a specific function in a laboratory has been responsible for a revolution in the methodology, quantity, economy, and quality of experiments performed. When connected to analytical instruments, the dedicated small computer becomes an element in a total analytical instrumentation system and is capable of acquiring and analyzing data, and controlling the instrument and experiment based on the data received.
