  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 73B))

Abstract

When cells multiply during embryonic development to regenerate damaged tissue, to form tumors or in certain cell culture conditions large amounts of new membrane protein has to be synthesized. This process involves activation of phase-specific genes which carry the code for the required amino acid sequences of the unit monomers.
