Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 83))

Abstract

In life it is impossible to have only happiness. When we were organizing this Symposium we invited Prof. Werner Seubert to give a lecture on his specialty, “The elongation reaction of fatty acids.” However, destiny was against our will since his sudden death in 1975 silenced his experienced voice. This was a real loss for international lipid biochemistry, although his knowledge will remain in his collaborators and publications.
