Abstract
The application of needle electrodes to oxygen pressure (Po2) measurements in organs allows us to record Po2 values in very small regions (1). Since these local measurements give information on the oxygen level in different depths of the tissue but do not permit the exact localization of the site of measurement, the question arose whether histological analysis may be helpful to correlate the measured values to the site of measurement. We studied this problem on the carotid body of the rabbit.
