Abstract
When the first of these symposia was organized some fourteen years ago, the subject matter was limited almost exclusively to drugs affecting lipids. This format was maintained for both the second and third symposia, however the scope of the program for the fourth meeting held in Philadelphia in 1971 was broadened somewhat to include new basic information, providing it was relevant. In organizing this fifth symposium, the program committee attempted to follow the same guidelines used in Philadelphia, and we hope that our efforts will meet with your approval.
