Abstract

Twenty-six patients with either 40% full-thickness burns, or those with Lesser burns and a progressive weight loss, were selected for intravenous nutritional supplementation. Their burns were treated by the exposure method, with topical antibiotics consisting of Sulfamylon, silver sulfadiazine or gentamicin. Eschar was debrided as it separated, and wounds were covered with porcine heterograft Early autografting and closure of the burn wound was accomplished as soon as the wound was ready.
