Effects of Adenine on Stored Human Red Cells

This report is divided into two parts: the first is concerned with the mechanism of action of adenine on human red cells stored in ACD under the usual blood banking conditions and the second describes the effects on long-stored red cells of a brief incubation with various combinations of phosphate, adenine, inosine and pyruvate.
