Some Epidemiological Aspects of Central Nervous System Malformations in Manitoba

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 27))

Abstract

Very little light has been shed on the etiology or pathogenesis of human inborn defects. This is particularly true for central nervous system (CNS) malformations. However, infection (1–3), radiation (2), drugs (4–7), nutritional deficiency (8,9), and genetic susceptibility (9–12) have been implicated in their etiologies.
