The Release of Vasopressin by a Direct Central Action of Bradykinin

Abstract

Bisset and Lewis (1962) reported that prolonged antidiuresis followed the intravenous injection of bradykinin into waterloaded, alcohol anaesthetised rats. The antidiuretic response was always preceded by hypotension and continued for some time after the blood pressure had returned to the pre-injection level. Bisset and Lewis therefore suggested that the antidiuresis may have been caused by antidiuretic hormone (ADH) released as a result of the fall in arterial blood pressure caused by bradykinin.
