Abstract
Both ytterbium and europium metals dissolve in liquid ammonia to form two-phase blue and bronze liquid solutions. This characteristic of ytterbium and europium to form ammoniated solutions is shared by the alkaline-earth metals calcium, strontium, and barium, and by the alkali metals.
