Abstract
Discrete cosmic x-ray sources were first discovered in 1962 and observations made since that time indicate that x-rays represent a non-negligible form of radiation in cosmos. There is a class of x-rays stars in which x-ray emission dominates all other forms of radiation by at least a factor of 1000 and the x-ray emission from certain galaxies is comparable to the sum of all the remaining radiated power. Overall, it appears that about 1:104 of all the radiation in the universe is in the form of x-rays.
