Abstract
Cephazolin sodium is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic given by the intramuscular or intravenous route. Peak serum levels of 38 mcg/ml have been obtained following an intramuscular dose of 500 mg. of cephazolin, recordable serum levels persisting for up to eight hours later. Approximately 60-80% of an intramuscular dose is excreted in the urine in the biologically active form in the first six hours. Urine levels of 1000 mcg/ml have been recorded following a single 500 mg. intramuscular dose.
