Summary
Different kinds of interaction have been observed when certain antibiotics were added to serum. Chloramphenicol and demethyl-chlortetracycline showed a negative interaction while streptomycin did not significantly change the activity of guinea pig serum against E.coli. Cephalexin and cephaloridine showed synergistic interactions with guinea pig and human serum against E.coli. Heat inactivation, ultrafiltration, bentonite-absorption of serum did not abolish the synergistic effect with cephaloridine.
