Abstract

Mecillinam, a member of a new group of ß-lactam antibiotics, the 6 — ß amidinopenicillanic acids, has considerable activity against the Enterobacteriacae (Lund & Tybring, 1972). This drug has little activity against the Gram positive organisms and its activity against Haemophilus influenzae has not been fully explored. This study was designed to see if any clinically useful synergistic combinations of other antibiotics together with mecillinam could be found.
