Summary

The resistances of 308 strains of mycobacteria were studied by means of the technique of Canetti, Rist and Grosset, against seven antituberculosis drugs. Two hundred and ninety-four of the strains were identified as M. tuberculosis, and fourteen as atypical mycobacteria. All strains were of human origin.

The strains of M. tuberculosis isolated from untreated patients (110 strains) were sensitive to Rifampicin and Ethambutol, while those isolated from treated patients showed variable resistance to the drugs used. The highest percentages of resistances were those of Isoniazid (42.3%), Streptomycin (29.8%) and p-Aminosalicylic acid (22%).

The atypical mycobacteria strains showed a higher resistance disregarding their origin from treated or untreated patients.
