Convulsant Alkaloids

  • Chapter
Poisons of Plant Origin

Abstract

This chapter is concerned with convulsants of biological origin which are used experimentally in neurobiology. It is not intended to provide detailed descriptions of the general actions of these agents when administered to different animals, and the presentation is restricted to effects which have been investigated at the cellular level, particularly in relation to studies of the nature of inhibitory synaptic transmitters and the membrane receptors for them.
