Part of the book series: Critical Stability Constants ((CRSC,volume 244))

Abstract

All plant viruses, except when noted, contain single-stranded RNA and most of them could with justification be classified as picornaviruses, because of their great similarities in structure and replication to the picornaviruses of vertebrates and insects as well as the small RNA phages. In most instances, the most common host represents part of the name of the plant viruses. Only when this is not the case will hosts be specifically mentioned. More complete biological characterization of many plant viruses is found in the Commonwealth Mycological Institute and Association of Applied Biologists (CMI/AAB) Description of Viruses.
