Neutron Diffraction Test of Type II Theories in Relation to Temperature

Abstract

The existence of a monocrystal of vortices in a monocrystalline niobium sample was reported for the first time by Thorel and Simon.1 We use this property to map the field around each vortex core by Fourier transformation of the Bragg peak integrated intensity, described elsewhere by Schelten and co-workers.2 The sample is a niobium monocrystal (7 × 25 × 9 mm) with a resistivity ratio of 80. The orientation of the vortex lattice with respect to the niobium crystalline axis is shown in Fig. 1.
