Abstract

A quantitative description of superconductors in a spatially inhomogeneous state has been possible up to now only in those cases where the order parameter is either small or near the full BCS value. Substantial deviations of the mixed-state behavior not near Tc from the simple Ginzburg—Landau theory are found, among others, by magnetization measurements (first-order transition at H c1 for low-к type II superconductors), decoration technique (intermediate mixed state), neutron diffraction, and NMR (magnetic field distribution).
