Abstract
Several workers1 have shown that the current-carrying capacity of wires of type II superconductors immersed in an axial magnetic field H || initially grows as the field increases, reaching a maximum when H || lies in the range (0.3–0.7) H c2 . Two complementary explanations have been proposed for this phenomenon.
