Abstract
In an earlier chapter, Dr. William McGuire reviewed studies demonstrating that estradiol is selectively taken up by certain mammary tumors in addition to other target tissues such as uterus and pituitary. It has been our goal for the past ten years to synthesize an agent labelled with a gamma-emitting nuclide that would mimic estradiol in this selective uptake process. Theoretically, such an agent would be a useful diagnostic agent in Nuclear Medicine for the imaging of estrogen responsive tissues and tumors.
