Abstract

It is indeed a privilege to participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the University of Rochester Medical Center. I am even more gratified by the recognition of the importance of aging and the impact it will have on health and, especially, the quality of human life in the future. I would not, however, have identified the later years of life in the human with the stereotype of senility described by Shakespeare in “As You Like It” as the Seventh Age of Man.
