Abstract

The investigation of the kinetics of heterogeneous isotopic exchange in systems like NaI/CH3 * I provides information about the dynamic behaviour of the surface of ionic crystals. The number of surface layers taking part in fast exchange as well as their mobility increases sharply with temperature.
