Abstract
In the laboratory, the air, food, and water all typically stay at one stable temperature, and when that temperature is experimentally manipulated, as by cold stress, the air, food, and water all tend to change together. As a result of this confounding, several reports have appeared to demonstrate that water intake varies with changes in the temperature of the air to which an animal is exposed.
