Abstract
This chapter describes an approach to research on environment and behavior that also has implications for social-psychological research in general. I will not offer a “theory,” in terms of hypotheses and testable propositions, nor will I present a “methodology,” in the sense of procedures or techniques. Rather I will set forth a general strategy for research on environmental and social-psychological phenomena, a kind of perspective within which one can pose specific theoretical and methodological questions.
