Some Problems of Strategy in Environmental Psychology

  • Chapter
Perspectives on Environment and Behavior

Abstract

In spite of some quite respectable accomplishments, environmental psychology is still just emerging from the state in which it was a label looking for a content or an agenda. Environmental psychology ought to exist, and an increasing number of psychologists are trying to provide its substance. But the label gained prominence before consensual content had emerged. The field as we now know it did not arise from intrinsic urgencies in the trajectory of psychological science. This is an inherently embarrassing state of affairs.
