Abstract

Culex tritaeniorhynchus is an important vector of Japanese encephalitis, its control being of great concern to medical entomologists and epidemiologists. Various insecticides have been tested for the control of this mosquito in the laboratory and in the field, particularly in Japan and Korea. Thus, it was demonstrated by several investigators that it is difficult to control this species by the residual spraying of insecticides as a result of its exophilic characteristics (Fukui et al., 1957; Nishigaki, 1970).
