Abstract
As a rule, posterior third ventricle tumors present with intraventricular obstructive hydrocephalus, the obstruction being at the junction of the aqueduct and the third ventricle. In a slow-growing neoplasm the sutures may separate, giving rise to long interdigitated sutures, whereas in a rapidly growing tumor there is wide separation with short interdigitations. The “split” sutures have no specific characteristics which indicate the site of obstruction in the ventricular system.
