Abstract
Electro-sleep can be produced in cats by superficial cortical stimulation using trains of current with an electro-encephalograph (EEG) modulated sine-wave current (Wulfsohn and Waldron). Where this current produces its effect is not clear. To help elucidate this problem this current was used to stimulate some of the depth structures in the brain already shown to produce sleep by the use of other currents, such as low frequency square waves or pulses.
