Abstract
Earlier investigators have shown a relation of bio-electrical phenomena and clot formation. Intravascular thrombosis may be effected by applying an electrical current across a vessel (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), presumedly decreasing streaming and zeta potentials with resultant disruption of the repulsion forces of similarly charged blood elements. By positioning transvascular bipolar electrodes in various vascular compartments and applying constant currents of varying time and duration, the properties and potentialities of electrical hrombogenesis are presently being evaluated. Accumulated data at this point permit a small number of conclusions, a few interesting observations, and a great many speculations.
