Abstract
Because one finds experimental deviations from the shell model calculations of the elastic electron scattering cross sections from nuclei at high values of the momentum transfer (q2 ~ 3 fm−2), one has been proneto interpret these deviations as being caused by the short range correlations between nucleons. Here we would like to stress the fact that effects, just as large in the same range of q, are caused by long range correlations. The particular long range correlations we shall examine are those that are manifests by interorbital mixing in the particle-hole model.
