Abstract
This presentation will concern itself with the effects of estrogenic hormones, either administered or through increased production during pregnancy, on two protein systems: 1. liver enzymes involved in the metabolism of cortisol and 2. the elevation in plasma transcortin concentration and its relation to progesterone-cortisol interplay. Both of these parameters have been the subjects of separate reports from our laboratory (Sandberg, Rosenthal and Slaunwhite, 1966; Rosenthal, Slaunwhite and Sandberg, 1969) and this paper will endeavor to stress the salient points of these effects.
